So tell us a little more about your podcast. How long have you been doing this?
I started in January of this year. For me on my podcast, its really all about that business side of things. All of the things you didn’t learn in dental school, so we don’t talk about anything clinical its all about building this amazing culture and how you do it. How do you develop your brand and your marketing strategy? That’s really the whole concept that I created with the whole “Delivering Wow.” I interview people also, that are not in dentistry, to expose dentists to some other things that can open their eyes a little more.
I’m not very clear on the Facebook coarse, can you tell us a little more about that?
The biggest value that I can add to the dental profession is my knowledge of social media. We have over 50,000 people following our Facebook page for our practice and that is a very big number but to me is not what is really important. What’s really important are the new patients coming in because of that tool. Typically, we spend about $500 a month on Facebook and we get about 50 new patients every single month. When you look at the ROI on that, its at like 2000% or 1500% and its because what really happens with Facebook is that you can put your message in front of whoever you want to put it in front of and so we target people specifically. So we are using the various tools of Facebook and some very advanced targeting to really put our message in front of people who are likely to come in as new patients. So what happens is we attract them, they go to our Facebook page, they interact with us, they see all of our video testimonials, and then they come in as new patients. These new patients come in ready to purchase and ready to start treatment because they feel like they know us already. So in my Facebook coarse, and its an online coarse so that you can do it on your own or have an office manager take it, and it takes you through the process of setting up your page, then figuring out what actually works, how to grow your audience, how to get people to click on your posts, and how to calculate the return on investment. Then we bring you into how to run add campaigns, and that is much more than pushing the blue box and boosting the post.
So is Facebook how you grew your practice?
It is and thats the reason I am so passionate about it because I know that it actually works. For me there is the whole “Delivering Wow” and I think that is why we have been so successful is because we had that “Delivering Wow” concept which is having a very unique culture. So patients are coming in, they are getting a tour, they are getting a hand and arm massage, so were giving a phenomenal experience and that’s why our existing patients and new patient numbers are very high because our existing patients are referring people but on the terms of external marketing we have tried many different things but what I found when I really started tracking things was I was spending $50 a month on Facebook and I was getting five new patients and that was just with boosting posts and not doing anything to specifically target my adds. So I made it my goal to get 50 new patients and thats when I really started learning how big business brands are using Facebook to actually get results. So when people sign up for this coarse, we show them how to get everything set up, how to make a cover image and social signs, without having to spend any money.
Now in your book, “Delivering WOW: How Dentists Can Build a Fascinating Brand and Achieve More, While Working Less!” does it cover that information about marketing?
There is a whole section in the book talking about marketing. We talk about internal marketing and how to grow your practice numbers without spending anything and how to get your patients to share your practice story. We talk about all different types of strategies and some of these things we have done in the past that are really cool, like reaching out to a local restaurant and asking if they can give a free desert for patients on their birthday. So we were able to set up really cool things like that where patients will get an email on their birthday with a coupon for a free dessert at a really nice restaurant. These types of things turn patients into an internal referral source which costs you nothing. We also go into the external marketing like social media, Facebook marketing, Instagram, twitter, and all the other different platforms you can use to grow your practice.
