Heidi Mount is a virtual consultant. Dentists hire her to find the invisible profit in their current business and helps them stop leaving money on the table. She has worked in the dental field since 1988. She has been licensed in 2 states as a dental assistant and worked as an office manager for 17 years. She is helping dentists and their teams world wide. Heidi is known for teaching you how to make $500 more a day on tomorrow’s schedule.
In this episode we discuss:
– Building relationships to build your practice
– Selling your services without being “salesy”
– Making $500 more a day
What kind of consulting do you do?
Dentists hire me to find the hidden revenue in their practice. So many of them are plateaued, frustrated, or just have inconsistent productions so I teach them that how to make an extra $500 a day and thats my goal. We try to do this authentically, and not “salesy.”
So how would a dentist get this process started? What do you do?
Its so simple. It starts out with me looking at their schedule to figure out what is going on. I want to uncover what they are missing. We don’t want to all of a sudden have all of these things that take a lot of time to increase revenue in the practice. For example, if you are talking to a patient that is on their husbands dental insurance, but the husband does come to see you for his dental care. That is a good new patient opportunity. A lot of the staff are kind of ignoring a lot of opportunity. Lets say that the patient brings in a friend, or boyfriend/girlfriend, and they are waiting in the reception area, no one seems to talk to them. The way that I learned to do this so well was obviously working in a dental office and seeing all the missed opportunities so I would stop what ever I was doing and just ask them who their dentist was or if they have a dentist. A lot of adding to the practice is just having more conversations and noticing what is going on. in my opinion, every non-patient that walks into your office is a potential new patient. Start building the relationship and have conversations because when they need a dentist, they will think of you first.
Can you explain to me what a Virtual Consultant is?
Regular consultants sells a big practice or program and most of the time you have to commit to a 12 month program. Some will show up and hand you a fat office manual and you are paying for their travel and their stay, along with having to shut down the office to do your training or forced to come in on the weekend. Every consultant has their own niche and knows what they want to do, but I just found it very expensive. So virtual consulting is kind of how we are talking now on the podcast. We just talk over the computer, and we can do the whole meeting over lunch. I feel like with all the technology we have available we can cut the expenses down and I can train a lot in an hour. Mainly what I teach, is people skills. We start from the vision of your practice and where you want to be and we get the staff on board.
